Much like I always have my best business ideas on the way to pick up my son at the end of the day (not on the way back home after drop off, ooooh no), I always have good blog ideas at the point where I am not at my desk, and I should have written them down on my phone at least, but I haven’t, so now I’m stuck on something to write about.
Perhaps I should write a blog about Christmas. It’s topical, I could #hashtag the hell out of it and put up a photo of Father Christmas. But to be honest, I’m so behind this year I can’t risk any more panic attacks about the lack of presents I’ve bought. Or Christmas Cards I haven’t written. Or the Santa’s Grotto I’ve got to magically decorate tomorrow. Or the lack of a Christmas Tree in our house. Ohhh deep breaths, deep breaths. Let’s not dwell on this one. I asked my brother, recovering at home after a kidney transplant operation that has undoubtedly either saved his life or just allowed him to eat cheese again, what I should write a blog about. He said himself, which I thought was a bit self-centred. Alright, you’ve gone through a major operation and increased the amount of kidneys in your body by either 25% or 33% (I’m not good at maths – he used to have three and now he has four), but is this really all about you? I’m the one struggling to write a blog about marketing, thank you very much. At least three people regularly read this blog, and I don’t even think my brother is one of them. But it is Christmas, and the season of giving, and actually that ties in with my brother very well. Someone, and we’ll never know who, gave an amazing gift a few weeks ago. And all they did was sign up to the Organ Donor Register. Someone, some wonderful wonderful person, gave at least seven people a new lease of life. That person saved their lives. That person gave their parents, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers, friends and families the chance to breathe out and truly by thankful. Whoever that amazing person was, who ticked a box or filled out a really quick form to allow all their organs to be donated and made so many people so very very happy; thank you. This blog should be about you. It is all about you. https://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/register-to-donate/register-your-details/
